it creeps
on you while you sleep
finds you defenceless
unable to
pick up a fight
eating you
from inside out
it gets
difficult to find a light
you notice
days pass
but your
compass is lost
roaming the
dark forest at night
with a
burning mind
out of that
darkness
tiny
fingers wrap around mine
little
human hugs me and holds me extra tight
dancing
with the big nappy bum
to the duck
song, and I smile
I can see
the light
a reason to
put up a fight
every day
anew
for as long
as I still have time
small
everyday things
are balm to
the heart

It's been a tough few months...as if motherhood isn't hard enough. And it's not covid, surprisingly.
