Poem: Determination

a discouraging thought of possibility
of adapting someone elses' mask
has you running always
away or towards
staying would mean deterioration
in a forest covered with snow
feet stride with determination
your blood is your own
names we cling to
as a definition of ourselves
as if they can explain the value
of our existence

  6. let your presence feel - show your determination and you will have their respect.
though there are times we can't deny that we are like robots being programmed but our own selves will surely show it's true colors...

  7. a name or a surname is an added burden sometimes under which a person reels with pressure...what a freedom it is to be shorn off everything...including the ego...a thought provoking write Natasa...

  9. A person has value no matter what his/her name. Masks add nothing at all.

  10. Some people have a difficult time accepting the "mask" they were born with.

  11. Perhaps it does better than the mask. Or maybe the mask helps with self discovery. A little snow assists the spring.

the last few lines are really memorable. names are a means of identification, but can we really put a value to them?

  19. Staying in the forest covering with snow - the challenging task for sure.... better to take another look at the problem, in the root of it, I guess... x

  20. I like your thoughts about masks, and always running away or towards something. It's best to be authentic, ourselves, enough. Lovely write.

  21. i love the reference of names to the value of existence. i oftentimes see streets or buildings or hospital wards whom are named after the people. i read them names, yet never remember them....much less even know the person behind the name. just makes one think of how anonymous you become after you die...unless you leave something of value OF YOURSELF behind....writing, art, books, just something more than a name on a building wall.
