Poem: Handle with care

you can tear and burn the photographs
but those dreams that fell apart
still linger on, yet somewhat changed
wishes upon the stars
tumbled on empty ears
always hoping for better days
holding back the tears
for the want of freedom
avoiding selling your soul
to achieve the goals
the heart believes what it believes
and it's the best guide you can listen to
and handle with care

  7. Yes, I understand - even though the photographs are gone the dreams linger on. And it isn't always easy to listen to the heart, though in the long run this is the best thing. The heart leads us forward with love.

  8. Yes, listen to your heart, carefully, for sometimes, its beating pulse of 'want' drowns out the echo of its 'need', although the latter may be what the soul is searching.

  12. "the heart believes what it believes"........so true. I have known this time of tears, when young. What I know now is the great happiness that lies ahead for you, my friend. Yes, follow your heart.

  13. Burnt and torn up photographs will not erase what once was. And I agree that the heart is a great guide.

  16. Natasa,

A sad poem, but one which has the wisdom to recognise that sometimes wishes or plans simply do not work out. Looking back at the photos can bring tears, but reality can force a change to move on...

  18. We are all different, sometimes from ourselves. Despite that your heart is a good guide and can rein in our waywardness.
