Poem: China Doll

I hear a question
»Did you sleep ok?«
like out of the blue
I didn't even know I was awake,
my mind still puzzled
my skin slowly fading away
like it's losing layer after layer
and there's no way to stop it
how much more time do I have?
pieces of a broken china doll
lay on the table
there is a flame burning
and it seems as all the pieces
are coming together
as I dance, birds fly
from my hands in a free motion
and I envy the freedom at their wings
*

When the temperatures rise, my mind gets confused, thus the poem may be a bit confusing.

  1. def has a surrealness....an almost out of body viewing...of that china doll coming back together as you dance...it makes for some intriguing imagery...almost like a dream...

  4. Confusing seems the order of the day.
My mind is still in a whirl from the crash and its ghastly consequences.
    Nice line drawing. Yours?

  5. I very much enjoy this blog, your poetry is so lightly tinted with emotion, like tingles on skin

  6. This has a surreal feel to it, but the emotions are clearly felt.

  7. I agree with the surreal, Natasa, but the images are clearly drawn. I like the idea of birds flying with free motion! And, yes, the freedom......

  8. Love! Those waking moments when I forget that I am aging are exactly like this. It takes more than an instant to become embodied in this flesh again. Thank you for the birds.

  9. I can feel a bit confused when I awake every morning and certainly wish I had the soaring energy of birds.

  16. Sometimes, we don't need to know the what in the writing--just the writing is enough-beautifully done!!

  19. Surreal and very dreamlike, but marries itself well with the image,

  23. Natasa,

I like the movement between surreal and the reality of seeing it all...A beautiful glimpse at that other world.
